Getting to Know Our Team: Mike BowiePosted on October 18, 2017
Mike Bowie didn’t always know that he wanted to become a real estate agent in Vancouver, but he’s always been interested in real estate – especially because his family was interested in it too! We sat down with Mike and asked him a few questions so you could get to know him better. You can watch the full video or read through his answer’s below.
Did you always know you wanted to go into real estate?
No, I wouldn’t say it’s something I’ve always known that I’ve wanted to go into, but something that I’ve always been really interested in. Growing up, real estate was a really common dinner topic in my family, and on Sundays we’d go for brunch and we’d have to take the long routes home. We’d drive through all the different neighbourhoods and my dad would see a ‘For Sale’ sign and say, “Guess what it’s listed for!” We’d go home, look in the newspaper, and we’d all have to guess. Even to this day, my dad will call me and tell me, “Guess what! The house down the street is for sale. Guess how much it’s listed for!”
What was your first job?
My first job was at the Park Theatre on Cambie when I was sixteen. Shortly after that, I worked as a valet attendant but I didn’t really know how to drive standard. I took someone’s car out on my first shift, and right in front of him, bunny hopped and stalled his car! I think I lasted about three weeks at that job.
What are three things you have on you every day?
A lot of coffee, cell phone, and car keys.
What is the most satisfying part of your job?
I think for me, one of the most satisfying things would be – it sounds cheesy – when you’re working with buyers for a while and you’ve seen five, ten, or however many places, and you go into one where you can tell just by their demeanour and expression change that this is it. They found it! To be able to see that and go through that whole process is a pretty cool thing.
