Getting to Know Our Team: Cheryl DaviePosted on January 26, 2018
Cheryl Davie has been a real estate agent in Vancouver since 2010, and she shared with us why she remembers the date so clearly when we sat down to talk with her. She also explains why she loves living in Vancouver (hint: Beautiful BC!) and talks about how busy her phone is with messages and calls. You can watch the full video or read through Cheryl’s answers below.
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
That’s a really interesting question, actually! Believe it or not, I always wanted to be a realtor. I remember distinctly, when I was 5 or 6 years old, pulling up to a double wide lot and asking my mom what we were doing there. Both of my parents were general contractors and built houses as I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s. I asked them how they bought the lot and what the process was, and my mom explained to me that they used a realtor. From that moment on I thought it sounded really cool and it was something I’d like to do.
When did you start as a realtor?
I started as a realtor in March of 2010 which obviously sticks in my mind because it was just after the Olympics had finished here. The defining thing for me was that I had to take my real estate exam right in the middle of the Olympics, so I had to keep my head down and study for the first week. I couldn’t go out and enjoy any of the festivities but I could hear the fireworks every night from my home.
What do you love about living in Vancouver?
Living in Vancouver to me is all about ‘Beautiful BC.’ We have the oceans here and the mountains. I love to run around Stanley Park (it’s a perfect 10K), get up into the mountains to do a hike, there’s waterfalls and fresh water runoff. Everything about Vancouver is about the natural beauty, it’s amazing.
If you had to guess, how many phone calls, texts, and emails do you get in a day?
Every day, wow! If I had to take a stab in the dark, I’d probably say around 35 emails a day that you need to get back to with clients and new listings that are coming up. Text messages are probably around the same, and with phone calls try to keep it around 20 if you can – but that always depends if you have deals going on, if you’re writing offers, if you have offers coming in, that number can skyrocket. Pretty much, my phone is attached to me almost 24/7.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
We are big into the outdoors but it’s a been long time since we’ve been somewhere hot. I’m hearing that Costa Rica and Panama are really nice this time of year, so maybe go down there and do some ecotourism and get some hikes in. That would be right up our alley!
